Eddy current approximation in Maxwell obstacle problems (Q6040151)

The authors justify the magneto-quasistatic eddy current approximation of the Maxwell obstacle problem with positive definite material parameters in an open set \(\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^3\). The obstacle set is assumed to be a closed subset of a weighted \(L^2\) space which is also convex and contains \(0\). The authors show in particular global well-posedness of the model and provide a priori analysis based on the Rothe method. The a priori estimates obtained yield a threshold below which the eddy current solution gives the desired approximation. Finally, the authors provide a numerical example verifying the a priori estimate and predicted convergence rate.
