Motivated by the recent paper [\textit{B. Guo} et al., Ann. Math. (2) 198, No. 1, 393--418 (2023; Zbl 1525.35121)], the authors establish the determinant majorization formula \[ F(A)^{\frac 1N} \ge \det(A) ^{\frac 1n}, \qquad A\ge 0, \] for all operators \(F\) determined by an invariant Gårding-Dirichlet polynomial \(F: \mbox{Sym}^2({\mathbb F}^n)\to {\mathbb R}\) of degree \(N\) on \(n \times n\) symmetric matrices \[ F(A):= p(\lambda_1(A), \dots, \lambda_n(A)). \] Here \(\lambda_1(A), \dots, \lambda_n(A)\) are the eigenvalues of \(A\in \mbox{Sym}^2({\mathbb F}^n)\) and \(p(\cdot)\) is a real homogeneous polynomial of degree \(N\) on \({\mathbb F}^n\) and \({\mathbb F} = {\mathbb R}, {\mathbb C}, {\mathbb H}\) (\({\mathbb H}\) denotes the skew field of quaternions). Note that invariance is with respect to conjugacy under the orthogonal group \(\mathrm {O}(n)\), the unitary group \(\mathrm {U}(n)\), or \(\mathrm {Sp}(n)\cdot \mathrm {Sp}(1): = \mathrm {Sp}(n)\times_{{\mathbb Z}_2} \mathrm {Sp}(1)\), where \(\mathrm {Sp}(n)\) is the symplectic group, when the matrices are real symmetric, Hermitian, or quaternionic Hermitian, respectively. The authors show that \[ F(A)^{1/N} \ge F(I)^{\frac 1N} \det(A) ^{\frac 1n}, \] where \(F(I)>0\). They also establish this formula for the Lagrangian Monge-Ampère operator \({\mathrm M}_{\mathrm{Lag}}\): \[ {\mathrm M}_{\mathrm{Lag}}(A)^{\frac 1{2^n}} \ge {\det}_{\mathbb R} (A)^{\frac 1{2n}}. \] Such operator is defined on any almost complex Hermitian manifold. Thus their work expands the applicability of the recent work by \textit{B. Guo} and \textit{D. H. Phong} [``On \(L^\infty\)-estimates for fully nonlinear partial differential equations on hermitian manifolds'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:2204.12549}] for differential equations on complex manifolds. It also relates to the paper [\textit{S. Abja} and \textit{G. Olive}, Ann. Mat. Pura Appl. (4) 201, No. 2, 561--587 (2022; Zbl 1486.35221)] on interior regularity. Further applications to diagonal operators and to operators depending on the ordered eigenvalues are given. In the appendices, the authors establish some results for Gårding-Dirichlet operators for the application to the result of \textit{S. Abja} and \textit{G. Olive} [loc. cit.].
