This article introduces a new invariant, the cohomological jump loci, extending and refining the support variety, for dg modules over a Koszul extension of a local dg algebra. The \textit{cohomological jump loci} of a dg module \(M\) are a chain of closed subsets \[ \operatorname{Spec} \mathcal{S} = \operatorname{V}^0(M) \supseteq \operatorname{V}^1(M) \supseteq \operatorname{V}^2(M) \supseteq \cdots\,, \] where \(\mathcal{S}\) is the ring of cohomology operators. The support variety of \(M\) is \(\operatorname{V}^1(M)\), the first cohomological jump locus. While the support variety respects the containment among thick subcategories, and even classifies the thick subcategories in the complete intersection case, the higher cohomological jump loci behave differently; see Proposition~2.10. The authors use the cohomological jump loci, to describe common behavior of the sequence of Betti numbers of \(M\) and its dual \(M^*\).
