Consider the group \(X=\mathbb{R}^n\times D\), where \(D\) is a countable discrete abelian group. Let \(\delta\) be a topological automorphism of \(X\) such that \(\mathrm{Ker}(I+\delta)=\{0\}\), where \(I\) is the identity automorphism. The main result of the present paper is a description of distributions \(\mu_1\) and \(\mu_2\) on \(X\) for which the conditional distribution of the linear form \(\xi_1+\delta\xi_2\) given \(\xi_1+\xi_2\) is symmetric, where \(\xi_1\) and \(\xi_2\) are independent random variables with distributions \(\mu_1\) and \(\mu_2\), respectively.
