This paper concerns the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with power nonlinearity \[ i\partial_t u+\Delta u=\lambda |u|^\alpha u, u(0)=\varphi, \] where \(u\) is a complex-valued function defined on the spacetime \( \mathbb{R}^{1+N}\) with \(N\ge 3\), \(\Lambda\in \mathbb{C}\), and \(\alpha> 0\). This paper proves a time local well-posedness result in \(H^s(\mathbb{R}^N )\) in the case where the nonlinear term is critical, which has limited regularity so that the nonlinear term does not belong to \(C^s(\mathbb{R}^2; \mathbb{R}^2)\). The main difficulty is to show that the nonlinear term \(|u|^\alpha u\) is sufficiently small in \(L^q(I; B_{r,2}^{s-2})\) so that the contraction mapping principle works.
