The category of the set of subsequences of a given real sequence that preserve the \(I\)-cluster (\(I\)-limit) points of the sequence for an ideal \(I\) has been studied by various authors. Here, the authors give new results in this direction, bringing some conclusions regarding meager ideals. They prove that an ideal \(I\) on the positive integers is meager if and only if there exists a bounded nonconvergent real sequence \(x\) such that the set of subsequences (respectively permutations) of \(x\) which preserve the set of \(I\)-limit points is comeager and, in addition, every accumulation point of \(x\) is also an \(I\)-limit point (that is, a limit of a subsequence (\(x_{n_k}\)) such that \( \{ n_1, n_2,\dots\} \notin I\)). Additionally, they prove that the analogous characterization holds for \(I\)-cluster points as well.
