Hermitian metrics with quasi-positive and quasi-negative second Chern-Ricci curvature on compact complex manifolds are considered. The main result is the following deformation theorem: Theorem. Let $M$ be a compact complex manifold and $g_0$, $\tilde{g}$ be two smooth Hermitian metrics on this manifold such that $\mathrm{tr}_{\tilde{g}}R^{(TM, g_0)}$ is quasi-positive (resp., quasi-negative). Then for all $\varepsilon>0$ and $k\in N$, there is another Hermitian metric $\hat g_0$ conformal to the metric $g_0$ such that $\mathrm{tr}_{\tilde{g}}R^{(TM,\hat g_0)}$ is positive (resp., negative) on the manifold $M$ and $\|\hat g_0-g_0\|_{C^k(M,\tilde g)}<\varepsilon$.
