The ``chord conjecture'' of Arnol'd asks whether any closed Legendrian in a closed contact manifold carries a Reeb chord for any contact form. The previous work of \textit{K. Mohnke} [Ann. Math. (2) 154, No. 1, 219--222 (2001; Zbl 1007.53065)] shows that a sufficient condition is that the minimal symplectic area of the Lagrangian is finite. The main goal of this paper is to prove that for a symplectically aspherical domain, the vanishing of symplectic cohomology implies the finiteness of the symplectic area. Similarly, it proves that the existence of a \(k\)-semi-dilation on exact domains implies the finiteness of area for \(K(\pi,1)\) Lagrangians. The main technique is to construct a quantitative version of the Viterbo restriction map \(SH^*(W)\to SH^*(T^*L)\), with the truncation energy level depending on the minimal area. The final part of the paper finds some new examples with \(k\)-semi-dilations, by some Gromov-Witten type computation of independent interest.
