Given an open set \(\Omega\subseteq\mathbb{R}^n\), a weigt function \(w:(0,\infty)\to[0,\infty)\), and an exponent \(p\in[1,\infty]\), let \[\Vert g\Vert_{w,p,\Omega}:=\sup\{w(r)\Vert g\Vert_{L_p(\Omega[x, r])}:\ x\in\Omega,\ r>0\},\] where \(L_p(\Omega[x,r])\) denotes the Lebesgue space over the domain \(\{y\in\Omega:|x-y|<r\}\). The Morrey space \(\mathcal{M}^w_p(\Omega)\) is then defined as linear space of all measurable functions \(g:\Omega\to\mathbb{R}\) for which the norm \(\Vert g\Vert_{e,p,\Omega}\) is finite. The (autonomous) composition operator \(T_f:X\to X\) defined by \(T_f(g):=f\circ g\), where \(f:\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}\) is fixed, has been studied by several authors for a large variety of functions spaces \(X\), e.g., in monographs by \textit{T. Runst} and \textit{W. Sickel} [Sobolev spaces of fractional order, Nemytskij operators and nonlinear partial differential equations. Berlin: de Gruyter (1996; Zbl 0873.35001)], by \textit{R. M. Dudley} and \textit{R. Novaiša} [Concrete functional calculus. New York, NY: Springer (2011; Zbl 1218.46003)], and by \textit{J. Appel} and \textit{P. P. Zabrejko} [Nonlinear superposition operators. Cambridge etc.: Cambridge University Press (1990; Zbl 0701.47041)]. In this paper the authors give a thorough survey of the most important analytical properties of \(T_f\) in \(\mathcal{M}^w_p(\Omega)\) in terms of the generating function \(f\). Among them are sufficient and/or necessary conditions for the continuity, uniform continuity, Lipschitz continuity or Hölder continuity of \(T_f\). Analogous results are also given for \(T_f\) from \(\mathcal{M}^{w,0}_p(\Omega)\) into \(\mathcal{M}^{w,0}_p(\Omega)\) or from \(\mathcal{M}^{w,0}_p(\Omega)\) into \(\mathcal{M}^w_p(\Omega)\), where \(\mathcal{M}^{w,0}_p(\Omega)\) denotes the ``little'' Morrey space. This is an essential enrichment of the vast literature on composition operators, written by two of the leading experts in the field.
