The geometric distribution of Selmer groups of elliptic curves over function fields (Q6047242)

Fixing a positive integer \(n\) and a finite field \(\mathbb{F}_q\), the author study the joint distribution of the Mordell-Weil rank of \(E\), the \(n\)-Selmer group of \(E\), and the \(n\)-torsion in the Tate-Shafarevich group as \(E\) varies over elliptic curves of fixed height at least \(2\) over \(\mathbb{F}_q(t)\). They compute this joint distribution in the large \(q\) limit and they prove that the value of the limit agrees with recent heuristics of Bhargava-Kane-Lenstra-Poonen-Rains.
