It is considered the nonlinear system with uncertain \(r\)-vector parameters \(\theta_i\), \(i=1,\ldots,n\) \[ \displaylines{\displaystyle{\dot{x}_i=x_{i+1} + \theta_i^T(t)f_i(\bar{x}_i)}\\ \displaystyle{\dot{x}_n=u(t) + \theta_n^T(t)f_n(\bar{x}_n)} } \] with \(x_i\), \(i=1,\ldots,n\), being scalar state variables, \(\bar{x}_i=(x_1,\ldots,x_i)^T\) and \(f_i:R^i\mapsto R^n\) -- known smooth functions with \(f_i(0)=0\). The finite-time stabilization problem is considered by introducing the so called prescribed-time adjustment functions. The control system supplying \(u(t)\) is designed by backstepping and endowing it with a structure allowing finite-time stabilization. The main theorem of the paper proves that finite-time stabilization is ensured by the designed structure.
