For a field \(\mathbb{F}=\mathbb{F}_q=\mathbb{F}_{p^k}\) and finite group \(G\), a group code \(C\) is a right ideal of the group algebra \(\mathbb{F}G\), and is denoted by \(C\leq \mathbb{F}G\). The monomial kernel of a group code \(C\) is defined as \(K_M(C)=\{g\in G\ \vert\ gc=a(g)c\ \text{with}\ a(g)\in\mathbb{F} ,\forall c\in C\}\). The Ward's condition (E) is the following: Whenever \(f\in C^\ast =\text{Hom}_\mathbb{F}(C, \mathbb{F})\), then there exists \(\eta\in \text{End}_{\mathbb{F}G}(C)\) such that \(f (c) = \langle c\eta, 1\rangle\) for all \(c \in C\). A characterization of all group codes which satisfy condition (E) is performed. As a result it is shown that condition (E) holds true if and only if \(C\) is a 2-sided ideal in \(\mathbb{F}G\). Furthermore, a necessary and sufficient condition for a projective cover \(P_0\) of the trivial module inside \(FG\) to satisfies (E) is \(G\) to be \(p-\)nilpotent. An extension result on the principal block to self-dual blocks, provided the underlying field is the prime field, is shown and in characteristic 2 the divisor \(\Delta(P_0)\) is completely determined. Another result from this publication states that if \(C\leq \mathbb{F}G\), then an upper bound better than Singleton bound is satisfied: \(|K_M(C)|\dim C\leq|G|\).
