The paper contains two main results. The first one states that for a continuous transitive map \(f:\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}\) and a nonconstant curve \(\gamma:[0,1]\to\mathbb{R}\) with finite total variation, the total variation of the composition \(f^{n}\circ\gamma\) tends to infinity exponentially as \(n\to\infty\). The second result states the same for a Devaney chaotic map \(f:G\to G\) on a topological graph \(G\) and a nonconstant curve \(\gamma:[0,1]\to G\) having finite total variation.
