Extended (or generalized) metrics were introduced as early as 1958 by \textit{W. A. J. Luxemburg} [Nederl. Akad. Wet., Proc., Ser. A 61, 540--546 (1958; Zbl 0084.07703)]. An extended (or generalized) metric on a set \(X\) is a function \(d:X\times X\to[0,+\infty]\) satisfying the usual axioms of a metric. Extended (or generalized) normed spaces, meaning linear spaces equipped with norms that can take the value \(+\infty\), were introduced and studied relatively recently in a series of papers by \textit{G.~Beer} [J. Convex Anal. 22, No.~1, 37--60 (2015; Zbl 1332.46017)] and \textit{G.~Beer} and \textit{J.~Vanderwerff} [Set-Valued Var. Anal. 23, No.~4, 613--630 (2015; Zbl 1342.46005)], \textit{S.~Czerwik} and \textit{K.~Król} [in: Contributions in mathematics and engineering. In honor of Constantin Carathéodory. With a foreword by R.~Tyrrell Rockafellar. Cham: Springer. 69--79 (2016; Zbl 1381.46011)). The asymmetric norms are subadditive positively homogeneous functionals defined on a real vector space \(X\) (see, for instance, [\textit{S.~Cobzas}, Functional analysis in asymmetric normed spaces. Basel: Birkhäuser (2013; Zbl 1266.46001)]). Reflexivity in this context was considered by \textit{L.~M. García-Raffi} et al. [Quaest. Math. 26, No.~1, 83--96 (2003; Zbl 1043.46021); Topology Appl. 156, No.~13, 2284--2291 (2009; Zbl 1185.54028)]. The aim of the present paper is to study extended asymmetric norms, which can be viewed as the Minkowski functionals of some convex subsets of a linear space, not necessarily symmetric or absorbing. The focus is on the reflexivity properties of these spaces, e.g., the asymmetric analogs of some of James's results on reflexivity in normed spaces.
