The main focus of this paper is a homomorphism \(\rho\) from \(\mathcal{H}\), the universal Hahn algebra, to the universal enveloping algebra of \(\mathfrak{sl}_{2}\). The image of this homomorphism is the subalgebra of \(U(\mathfrak{sl}_{2})\) consisting of the even graded parts, denoted \(U(\mathfrak{sl}_{2})_{e}\). The authors characterize the irreducible modules of \(U(\mathfrak{sl}_{2})_{e}\) and describe how these modules reduce when considered as modules over \(\mathcal{H}\). The authors then consider the map from \(U(\mathfrak{sl}_{2})\) to \(T\), the Terwilliger algebra of the hypercube graph, originally given in [\textit{P. Terwilliger}, J. Algebr. Comb. 2, No. 2, 177--210 (1993; Zbl 0785.05091)]. Composing with \(\rho\) yields a map from \(\mathcal{H}\) to a subalgebra of \(T\), whose image is essentially the Terwilliger algebra of the halved hypercube graph, denoted as \(T_{e}\). This relates the representation theory of these algebras and, most directly, gives a new approach to the decomposition of \(T_{e}\) into endomorphism rings of irreducible \(T_{e}\)-modules derived from \(U(\mathfrak{sl}_{2})\)-modules.
