A knot, \(K\), is said \(q\)-periodic if there is a homeomorphism of pairs \((S^3, K)\) that is topologically conjugate with a \(q\) rotation of 3-space around a line disjoint from the knot. A knot \(K\) is said freely \(q\)-periodic if it is \(q\)-periodic and the \(i\)-th power of the homeomorphism does not have any fixed points, for \(1\leq i \leq q-1\). In [\textit{A. F. Costa} and \textit{C. Van Quach-Hongler}, Topology Appl. 300, Article ID 107753, 22 p. (2021; Zbl 1472.57002)], the authors proved that \(q\)-periodicity is visible i.e., there is a diagram of the knot which, upon \(q\) rotation, is mapped onto itself. In the article under review, the authors prove a visibility theorem for free \(q\)-periodicity and relate it to the Murasugi decomposition into atoms.
