The author generalizes the well-known Lions-type lemmas using a class of Orlicz-Sobolev spaces. There is a variety of formulations of different variants of these Lions-type lemmas concerning the lack of compactness of a sequence in the case of an unbounded domain. The author proves a vanishing Lions-type result for a sequence of Lebesgue-measurable functions. The author points out that what matters in her main theorem, just as in the concentration-compactness lemma of \textit{P.-L. Lions} published in his papers [Ann. Inst. Henri Poincaré, Anal. Non Linéaire 1, 109--145 (1984; Zbl 0541.49009); Ann. Inst. Henri Poincaré, Anal. Non Linéaire 1, 223--283 (1984; Zbl 0704.49004)], ``is the behavior of the integral, not the space''.
