\textit{P. A. Bergh} and \textit{M. Thaule} [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 13, No. 4, 2405--2428 (2013; Zbl 1272.18008)] proved that the first two of the original axioms can be replaced by two alternative axioms: \begin{itemize} \item[1.] One of them requires that the collection of \(n\)-angles is closed under weak isomorphisms of exact \(n\)-\(\Sigma\)-sequences, but not under direct sums, summands and isomorphisms. \item[2.] The other one requires that the collection of \(n\)-angles\ is closed only under left rotations, but not right rotations. \end{itemize} It is not known whether the second alternative axioms can be used for the substitution independently [\textit{E. Arentz-Hansen} et al., Theory Appl. Categ. 31, 477--483 (2016; Zbl 1360.18018), Remark 2.1]. This paper improve their result by establishing that both of the original axioms can be replaced by the above alternative axioms independently. Besides, the paper gives another alternative axioms for the first one by a dual version. The authors generalize some results of triangulated categories to \(n\)-angulated categories, showing that the adjoint of an \(n\)-angulated functor is also \(n\)-angulated. They give a sufficient and necessary condition for the existence of an adjoint functor for an \(n\)-angulated functor between \(n\)-angulated categories having split idempotents.
