A subgroup \(H\) of a finite group \(G\) is called c-reachable in \(G\) if either \(G = H\) or there are a subgroup chain \(H = H_0\leq H_1\leq\dots\leq H_i\leq H_{i+1}\leq\dots\leq H_{n-1}\leq H_n = G\) and elements \(x_i\in H_{i+1}\setminus H_i\) such that \(H_{i+1} = H_ix_i\) for every \(i\). A subgroup \(H\) of a finite group \(G\) is called strongly c-reachable in \(G\) if \(H\) is c-reachable in every subgroup \(L\) such that \(H\leq L\leq G\). The authors investigate finite groups in which every second maximal subgroup is strongly c-reachable. In particular, they prove that the nilpotent length of such groups is no more than 3.
