The notion of \(\gamma\)-\(\mathcal{I}\)-lifting modules is introduced which is a generalization of \(\mathcal{I}\)-lifting modules. Definition of this notion is next. A module \(M\) is \(\gamma\)-\(\mathcal{I}\)-lifting if for every \(\varphi \in End_R(M)\) there exists a direct summand \(D\) of \(M\) such that \(Im (\varphi) /D \ll_\gamma M/D\). Here submodule \(N\) of a module \(M\) is said to be \(\gamma\)-small in \(M\) (denoted by \(N \ll_\gamma M\)) provided \(M = N + X\) with \(M/X\) noncosingular implies \(M = X\). Some properties of \(\gamma\)-small modules are considered. Then authors investigate \(\gamma\)-\(\mathcal{I}\)-lifting and seek at the question that when \(\gamma\)-\(\mathcal{I}\)-lifting is preserved by finite direct sums.
