Let \(R\) be commutative ring with identity and \(G\) be a multiplicative abelian group. Then \(R\) is said to be graded by \(G\) if \(R=\displaystyle\bigoplus_{\alpha\in G}R_{\alpha}\) is a direct sum of subgroups \(R_{\alpha}\) of \(R\) such that \(R_{\alpha}R_{\beta}\subseteq R_{\alpha\beta}\) for every \(\alpha, \beta\) in \(G\). The notion of a trinil clean ring was introduced as a ring in which every element can be written as a sum of a tripotent and a nilpotent. In this paper, the authors extended the trinil clean property to graded rings which are graded by groups. They first showed that the class of graded rings which are trinil clean and the class of graded trinil clean rings are not comparable. They gave some properties of graded trinil clean rings that can be viewed as the graded version of well-known results on trinil clean rings, and they investigated extensions of graded trinil clean rings to graded group rings. Among others, they established some results concerning trivial extensions of such rings. Particularly, they proved that if \(A\) is a \(G\)-graded ring, \(E\) is a \(G\)-graded \(A-A\)-bimodule, and \(R:= A\ltimes E\) is the trivial ring extension of \(A\) by \(E\), then \(R\) is graded trinil clean if and only if \(A\) is so. They also gave a sufficient condition for the graded triangular matrix ring over a graded trinil clean ring to be graded trinil clean.
