The big finitistic dimension FD(\(R\)) of a ring \(R\) is defined as the supremum of the projective dimensions of \(R\)-modules of finite projective dimension. Recently, Rickard proved that for a finite dimensional algebra \(A\) over a field, if the derived category \(D(A)\) is generated by injective modules, then FD(\(A\)) is finite, see [\textit{J. Rickard}, Adv. Math. 354, Article ID 106735, 21 p. (2019; Zbl 1470.16020)]. In the paper under review, the author generalizes Rickard's result from a finite dimensional algebra over a field to an Artinian ring with a dualizing complex. More precisely, she shows that for an Artinian ring \(R\) with a dualizing complex \(D^\bullet\), if the injective modules generate the derived category \(D(R)\) then FD(\(R\))\(<\infty\), and if the injective modules generate the homotopy category \(K(R\)-\(\mathrm{Inj})\) as a triangulated category with arbitrary coproducts, then the global dimension of \(R\) is finite.
