The theory of locally projective graphs is an axiomatised version of point-line graphs of the symplectic (thick) and orthogonal (thin) dual polar spaces over the field \(\mathrm{GF}(2)\). Further examples come from Petersen and tilde geometries of the sporadic simple groups \(M_{22}\), \(M_{23}\), \(M_{24}\), \(\mathrm{He}\), \(\mathrm{Co}_{2}\), \(\mathrm{Co}_{1}\), \(J_{4}\), \(BM\) and \(M\). In the paper under review, the author continues the study to the classification of simply connected locally projective graphs. Such classification was accomplished for the thin case by the author and \textit{S. V. Shpectorov} in [Geometry of sporadic groups. II: Representations and amalgams. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press (2002; Zbl 0992.51006)] (see also the quick summary in [Bull. Am. Math. Soc., New Ser. 31, No. 2, 173--184 (1994; Zbl 0817.20014)]). In the work mentioned above, the use of results by V. I. Trofimov proved in a series of papers published in the 1990s (see [\textit{V. I. Trofimov}, in: Groups, combinatorics and geometry. Proceedings of the L.M.S. Durham symposium, River Edge, NJ: World Scientific. 313--326 (2003; Zbl 1039.05033)]) is essential. The graphs of the orthogonal dual polar spaces form the only nontrivial infinite series in the thin case. The orthogonal graphs are densely embedded (see Definition 2) in the symplectic graphs. The natural generalisation of this notion places in a general setting the embeddings \(\mathcal{G}(M_{22}) \hookrightarrow \mathcal{G}(M_{24})\), \(\mathcal{G}(Co_{2}) \hookrightarrow \mathcal{G}(Co_{1})\) and \(\mathcal{G}(BM) \hookrightarrow \mathcal{G}(M)\) among Petersen and tilde geometries. The author [Beitr. Algebra Geom. 62, No. 2, 363--374 (2021; Zbl 1466.05224)] proved that graphs from a large class contain thin densely embedded subgraphs. In this paper, he characterizes the symplectic dual polar graphs in the class of locally projective graphs with densely embedded subgraphs.
