The authors establish a general monotonicity formula for the following elliptic system \[ \Delta u_i+f_i(x,u_1,\cdots ,u_m)=0 \text{ in } \Omega \] where \(\Omega\) is a regular domain in \({\mathbb R}^n\), \( f_i(x,u_1,\cdots ,u_m)=\nabla_{\Vec {u}}F(x, {\Vec {u}})\), \(F(x, {\Vec {u}})\) is a given smooth function of \(x\in {\mathbb R}^n,\) and \({\Vec {u}}=(u_1,\cdots ,u_m)\in {\mathbb R}^m.\) They also find a monotonicity formula of the parabolic system \[ \partial_iu_i-\Delta u_i-f_i(x,{\Vec {u}})=0 \text{ in } (t_1, t_2)\times {\mathbb R}^n \] where \(t_1<t_2\) are two constants, \(f_i(x,{\Vec {u}})\) is defined above. Thanks to the above formulae, the authors acknowledged that these formulae can be extended to nonhomogeneous nonlinearities. The results of the paper are applied to the free boundary problems of the Ginzburg-Landau model and some different generalizations. The paper contains few typos, but a reader can read the paper without ambiguity or difficulty.
