The authors investigate orthogonally additive operators within the realm of Riesz spaces. They establish necessary and sufficient conditions on a pair of Riesz spaces \((E,F)\) for which every orthogonally additive operator from \(E\) to \(F\) is laterally-to-order bounded. \textit{V. M. Kadets} and \textit{M. M. Popov} [Ukr. Mat. Zh. 44, No. 9, 1192--1200 (1992; Zbl 0779.46039)] obtained a version of Pitt's compactness theorem by showing that if \(1 \leq p < 2\) and \(p < r < \infty\), then every linear bounded operator \(T : L_p \to L_r\) is narrow. In a the paper under review, they extend this result to orthogonally additive operators. They also furnish sufficient conditions that enable a pair of orthogonally additive operators S and T to possess both \(S \vee T\) and \(S \wedge T\), without any presuppositions on the domains and ranges of operators. Lastly, they show that a kind of Meyer's theorem (see \textit{C. D. Aliprantis} and \textit{O. Burkinshaw} [Positive operators. Reprint of the 1985 original. Berlin: Springer (2006; Zbl 1098.47001)]) on the existence of modulus \(|T|\) of a disjointness preserving linear operator \(T\) from a Riesz space to an Archimedean Riesz space holds for orthogonally additive operators.
