Let \(\Pi_L\) be the space of spherical harmonics of degree \(\leq L\) with a basis \(\{Q_1^L, \dots,Q_{\pi_L}^L\}\). The points maximizing \(|\det (Q_i^L(x_j))_{i,j=1}^{\pi_L}|\) are called Fekete points of degree \(L\) for the sphere \({\mathbb S}^d\). Fekete points are well-suited points for cubature and interpolation formulas [see \textit{I. H.~Sloan} and \textit{R. S.~Womersley}, Adv. Comput. Math. 21, No. 1--2, 107--125 (2004; Zbl 1055.65038)]. Based on the connection of Fekete points with other arrays of points, namely the Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund arrays and interpolating arrays, the authors show the asymptotic equistribution of Fekete points on \({\mathbb S}^d\) for \(L\to \infty\).
