On mean Cartan torsion of Finsler metrics (Q6078111)

The authors deal with one of the open problems in Finsler geometry, which is whether every Finsler manifold can be isometrically immersed into any Minkowski space, which is a finite-dimensional Banach space. In Theorem 1.1, the authors show that Finsler manifolds with unbounded mean Cartan torsion cannot be isometrically embedded into any Minkowski space. For this purpose, the authors use Rizza manifolds to construct a class of Finsler metrics called generalized Randers metrics and show that any generalized Randers metric has unbounded mean Cartan torsion. This class of Finsler manifolds cannot be isometrically embedded into any Minkowski space. Further, the authors prove some characterization of generalized Randers metric.
