For \(\Delta_M\) the \(M\)-dimensional simplex, \(f:\Delta_M \rightarrow R^{d}\) an almost \(r\)-embedding, the authors construct counterexamples to the topological Tverberg conjecture (if \(r\) is not a prime power and \(d \ge 2r+1\) then there is an almost \(r\)-embedding \(f:\Delta_{(d+1)(r-1)} \rightarrow R^d\)). Following the overview on the improvement of \textit{P. V. M. Blagojevic} et al. [Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 46, No. 5, 953--967 (2014; Zbl 1305.52021)], the authors discuss thoroughly the case when \(d\) large compared to \(r\) and arrive to an improvement: ``The improvement follows from our stronger counterexamples to the \(r\)-fold van Kampen-Flores conjecture. Our proof is based on generalisations of the Mabillard-Wagner theorem on construction of almost \(r\)-embeddings from equivariant maps, and of the Ozaydin theorem of existence of equivariant maps.
