Let \(\Phi\) be an irreducible crystallographic root system, \(\Delta\) a system of simple roots of \(\Phi\) and let \(V\) be the Euclidean space spanned by \(\Phi\). Let \(W\) be the Weyl group associated to \(\mathbb{Z} \Phi\), that is the maximal reflection subgroup of the orthogonal group \(O(V)\) admitting \(\mathbb{Z}\) as a \(W\)-equivariant lattice. The author considers the subgroup \(W_{a}\) of \(\mathrm{Aff}(V)\) generated by all affine reflections \(s_{\alpha,k}\) with \(\alpha \in \Phi\) and \(k \in \mathbb{Z}\), that is the affine Weyl group \(W_{a}=\langle s_{\alpha,k} \mid \alpha \in \Phi, \; k \in \mathbb{Z} \rangle\) associated to \(\Phi\). In [\textit{J. Shi}, J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 35, 42--55 (1987; Zbl 0681.20032)], among other things, the elements \(W \in W_{a}\) are characterized by a \(\Phi^{+}\)-tuple of integers \((k(w,\alpha))_{\alpha \in \Phi^{+}}\) subject to certain conditions. This description led the author to define an affine variety\(\widehat{X}_{W_{a}}\), called the Shi variety of \(W_{a}\), whose integral points are in bijection with \(W_{a}\). This variety has more than one irreducible component, and the set of these components, denoted by \(H^{0}(\widehat{X}_{W_{a}})\), admits some interesting properties (in particular the group \(W_{a}\) acts on it). In the paper under review, the author shows that the set of irreducible components of \(\widehat{X}_{W(\widetilde{A}_{n})}\) is in bijection with the conjugacy class of \((1,2, \ldots, n) \in W_{a}=S_{n}\). The author also computes the action of \(W(A_{n})\) on \(H^{0}(\widehat{X}_{W\big (\widetilde{A}_{n})} \big )\).
