The \(q\)-Painlevé equation with affine Weyl group symmetry of type \(E^{(1)}_6\) was first discovered in [\textit{A. Ramani} et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 67, No. 14, 1829--1832 (1991; Zbl 1050.39500)]. For this equation, a \(2\times 2\)-matrix Lax form and a second order scalar Lax form were known. The author gives a new \(3\times 3\)-matrix Lax form and a third order scalar equation related to it, and then discusses continuous limits.
