In [Math. USSR, Sb. 72, No. 2, 519--541 (1992; Zbl 0820.20044)], \textit{A. Yu. Ol'shanskii} mentioned that the constructions exposed in that paper make it possible to generalize many of the results in his book [Geometry of defining relations in groups. Dordrecht etc.: Kluwer Academic Publishers (1991; Zbl 0732.20019)] to the case of torsion-free hyperbolic groups. In the paper under review, using the limit group constructed in [\textit{Yu. S. Semenov}, Mosc. Univ. Math. Bull. 48, No. 3, 39--40 (1993; Zbl 0829.20047)], the author proves that any noncyclic torsion-free hyperbolic group has a non-abelian torsion-free quotient in which all proper subgroups are cyclic and the intersection of any two of them is nontrivial. Furthermore, using this result, she proves that for any prime \(p\), each noncyclic hyperbolic torsion-free group has a non-abelian quotient group \(K\) of finite period in which all proper subgroups are cyclic and every Sylow \(p\)-subgroup \(P\) is central but is not a direct factor of \(K\). Another interesting result presented in this paper is that, for any \(k \in \mathbb{N}\), every noncyclic torsion-free hyperbolic group has a non-abelian torsion-free quotient \(\mathbf{A}\) in which all maximal proper subgroups are free abelian groups of rank \(k\) and the intersection of any two different maximal proper subgroups coincides with the center of \(\mathbf{A}\), which is a free abelian group of rank \(k-1\), and no nontrivial subgroup of the center is a direct factor of \(\mathbf{A}\).
