This paper is devoted to ill-posed operator equations of the form \(Ax=y\), where \(A\) represents an injective and compact linear operator operating within the infinite-dimensional and separable real Hilbert spaces \(X\) and \(Y\). The crux of the discussion revolves around the concept of ill-posedness. We note that a known notion of ill-posedness is studied by \(\mu=\mu(A)\in (0,\infty]\), a parameter whose significance lies in categorizing the severity of ill-posedness. According to established terminology, the equation is considered mildly ill-posed if \(\mu\leq 1\), moderately ill-posed if \(1< \mu<\infty\), and severely ill-posed if \(\mu=\infty\). The authors propose a notion of ill-posedness. The pivotal contribution of this paper lies in demonstrating that a specific compact integration operator, operating within certain Lebesgue spaces, manifests ill-posedness of degree one. This operator formulation is intricately tied to the mixed differentiation. The paper substantiates its main result through a series of technical proofs, each bearing intrinsic value and interest. Particular attention is given to mixed differentiation in a two-dimensional setting.
