Recently [\textit{V. Rovenski} and \textit{R. Wolak}, Indag. Math., New Ser. 33, No. 3, 518--532 (2022; Zbl 1497.53060)] introduced the notion of a weak framed \(f\)-structure on a manifold \(M\) by replacing the complex structure on \(f(TM)\) with any nonsingular skew-symmetric tensor. This allows to get a new point of view on the classical \(f\)-structures of \textit{K. Yano}, [On a structure f satisfying \(f^3+f=0\), Technical Report No. 12, University of Washington (1961)], and to generalize several known results on framed \(f\)-manifolds. For example, what is done in the paper under review, one can \begin{itemize} \item[1.] express the covariant derivative of \(f\) using a new tensor on a metric weak \(f\)-structure, \item[2.] prove that on a weak \(K\)-manifold the characteristic vector fields are Killing while the kernel of \(f\) defines a totally geodesic foliation, \item[3.] prove that any \(S\)-structure is rigid, i.e., arbitrary weak \(S\)-structures are \(S\)-structures and that any metric weak \(f\)-structure with parallel tensor \(f\) reduces to a weak \(C\)-structure. \end{itemize} Several corollaries for weak almost contact, weak cosymplectic and weak Sasakian structures are provided.
