A polynomial is called hyperbolic if all critical points are contained in the basins of attracting periodic cycles. Polynomials of degree \(3\) may be normalized to have the form \(f(z)=z^3-3a^2z+b\) so that the critical points are \(\pm a\). The parameter space may thus be identified with \({\mathbb C}^2\). The authors consider components of the set of hyperbolic cubic polynomials for which the Julia set is connected (equivalently, both critical points tend to finite attracting cycles). Such components are called \emph{bounded hyperbolic components}. \textit{J. Milnor} [in: Complex dynamics. Families and friends. Wellesley, MA: A K Peters. 333--411 (2009; Zbl 1180.37073)] classified bounded hyperbolic components into four types. Here we only mention the first two types: (A) Both critical points belong to the same Fatou component; (B) The two critical points belong to different Fatou components of the same cycle. The \emph{tame} part \(\partial U^t\) of the boundary of a bounded hyperbolic component \(U\) consists of those functions on \(\partial U\) which have an attracting cycle. Given two bounded hyperbolic components \(U_1\) and \(U_2\) the authors completely describe the functions in \(\partial U_1^t\cap \partial U_2^t\). In all cases, if \(\partial U_1^t\cap \partial U_2^t\neq\emptyset\), then the maps in this intersection are either parabolic maps or Misiurewicz maps. Here we only mention some exemplary results: (1) If both \(U_1\) and \(U_2\) are of type (A), then \(\partial U_1^t\cap \partial U_2^t=\emptyset\); (2) If one of them is of type (A) and the other one is of type (B), or if both of them are of type (B), then \(\partial U_1^t\cap \partial U_2^t\) consists of parabolic maps. Some additional conclusions about the parabolic points are also drawn. The cases where \(U_1\) and \(U_2\) are of the two remaining cases (C) and (D) of Milnor's classification are also completely described.
