The article under review generalizes some known results about the (parabolic) Kazhdan-Lusztig bases and the \(q\)-Schur duality of type \(A\) to type \(B\). Let \(W_d\) denote the Weyl group of type \(B_d\) and consider the reflection subgroup of the form \[ W_f = W_{m_1} \times \dots \times W_{m_k} \times S_{m_{k+1}} \times \dots \times S_{m_l} \subseteq W_d, \] where \(S_m\) denotes the Weyl group of type \(A_{m-1}\), that is, the \(m\)-th symmetric group. Note that this is not necessarily a parabolic subgroup. The first main result of the article is a construction of the canonical basis of the module corresponding to the subgroup \(W_f\) over the Hecke algebra \(\mathcal{H}_{B_d}\) of type \(B_d\). This canonical basis is a natural generalization of the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis and Deodhar's parabolic Kazhdan-Lusztig basis. Then, the authors establish a Schur-type duality between \(\mathcal{H}_{B_d}\) and the \(\imath\)quantum group (also known as the quantum symmetric pair coideal subalgebra) \(\mathbf{U}^\imath\) of type AIII, and prove that the canonical bases as an \(\mathcal{H}_{B_d}\)-module and as a \(\mathbf{U}^\imath\)-module are identical. The former result extends \textit{M. Jimbo}'s [Lett. Math. Phys. 11, 247--252 (1986; Zbl 0602.17005)] \(q\)-Schur duality of type \(A\) and \textit{H. Bao} and \textit{W. Wang}'s [A new approach to Kazhdan-Lusztig theory of type \(B\) via quantum symmetric pairs. Paris: Société Mathématique de France (SMF) (2018; Zbl 1411.17001)] \(q\)-Schur duality of type \(B\), and the latter \textit{I. B. Frenkel} et al.'s [Transform. Groups 3, No. 4, 321--336 (1998; Zbl 0918.17012)] result for type \(A\). Finally, the authors provide an inversion formula for their canonical bases by means of a canonically defined inner product.
