In this paper, a semi-analytical method is considered for free and forced vibrations of a thin square binary material configuration plate containing circular plate-type resonators made of soft material containing rigid mass. Natural frequencies and modes are solved from the eigenvalue problem derived through the Ritz method with the appropriate admissible functions considering different boundary conditions. The free vibration of the plate considering various locations of the mass in the circular plate-type are studied. The forced vibration of the plates considering different material parameters of the circular plate-type resonator are also investigated. Extensive numerical results are presented showing convergence of results by taking increasing number of terms of admissible functions and for various boundary conditions with specific material properties. The first ten natural frequencies of the plate under the three boundary conditions SSSS, SSFF, and SSSF are presented. The numerical results are compared with that obtained by the finite element method to justify the accuracy. It may be noted that both the Ritz method and FEM do not yield exact numerical results. Both are approximate methods -- Ritz method gives the upper bound.
