In this paper, the authors study the regularity property of the measure preserving maps \(\nabla u\) from \(\mu\) to \(\nu\), which boils down to study the Monge-Ampère equation in form of \[ \det D^2u=\frac{f}{g(\nabla u)} \] or equivalently the optimal transportation problem with quadratic cost function. The existence of convex potential solution \(u\) was discovered by \textit{Y. Brenier} [Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 44, No. 4, 375--417 (1991; Zbl 0738.46011)] and then refined by \textit{R. J. McCann} [Duke Math. J. 80, No. 2, 309--323 (1995; Zbl 0873.28009)] about thirty years ago. When the measures \(\mu\) and \(\nu\) supported in a bounded set of \({\mathbb{R}}^n\), a first general regularity result was found by \textit{L. A. Caffarelli} [J. Am. Math. Soc. 5, No. 1, 99--104 (1992; Zbl 0753.35031)]. Since the assumption that the supports of the measures are bounded is restrictive, it is the main purpose of the paper under review to extend the regularity theory of Caffarelli to measures with unbounded support.
