Cohomologies and applications for Lie algebras with derivations were discussed in [\textit{R. Tang} et al., J. Algebra 534, 65--99 (2019; Zbl 1455.17020)]. The ideas were later applied to Leibniz and associative algebra with derivations [\textit{A. Das}, J. Homotopy Relat. Struct. 16, No. 2, 245--274 (2021; Zbl 1477.17018); \textit{A. Das} and \textit{A. Mandal}, ``Extensions, deformation and categorification of AssDer pairs'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:2002.11415}]. This paper generalizes their ideas and works with higher derivations, so that their work can be obtained by working on specific operads, as well as similar results for other types of algebras with higher derivations. The approach here is based on an operadic level generalization of Mirzavaziri's characterization of higher derivations [\textit{M. Mirzavaziri}, Commun. Algebra 38, No. 3, 981--987 (2010; Zbl 1191.16040)]. It is demonstrated that, for every operad \(\mathcal{P}\), there is a one-to-one correspondence \(corr\) between a higher derivation \(D=\{ d_i \}\) and a sequence of derivations \(\Phi=\{ \varphi_{i} \}\). Using this characterization, a cohomology for \((\mathcal{P},D)\) as a sum of the derivation cohomologies of all the \((\mathcal{P},\varphi_{i})\)'s. It is demonstrated from the perspective of formal deformation theory for \((\mathcal{P},D)\) that the vanishing of the second cohomology does in fact control the rigidity of \((\mathcal{P},D)\) (Theorem 4.17 and Corollary 4.18) and that finite order deformation is extensible if the third cohomology vanishes (Theorem 4.21, Corollary 4.22, Corollary 4.23 and Proposition 4.26). A direct approach to cohomology and deformation theory of associative algebras with higher derivations was given in [\textit{A. Das}, Bull. Malays. Math. Sci. Soc. (2) 45, No. 1, 379--398 (2022; Zbl 1483.16047)].
