Given a self-map \(f: X\to X\) on a compact polyhedron, in Nielsen fixed point theory, for each natural number \(n\), there are two homotopy invariants \(NP_n(f)\) and \(NF_n(f)\), which are used respectively to estimate from below the number of periodic points of period \(n\) and the number of fixed points of \(n\)-iteration for all maps in the homotopy class of the given self-map \(f\). These numbers are very difficult to compute. Except for some trivial cases, the concrete computation results are quite few. The known results are the following. The computations for self-maps on the Klein bottle is due to work by Halpern which is regarded as a starting point in defining these invariants for periodic points. The work was accomplished by \textit{H.-J. Kim, J. B. Lee} and \textit{W. S. Yoo} [J. Korean Math. Soc. 45, No.~5, 1483--1503 (2008; Zbl 1157.55003)]. The computation for self-maps on Nil and Solvmanifolds were illustrated in a series of papers of \textit{P. R. Heath} and \textit{Ed Keppelmann} [Topology Appl. 76, No.~3, 217--247 (1997; Zbl 0881.55002)]. In this paper, the author computes completely these two Nielsen type numbers for all self-maps on the real projective plane \(\mathbb RP^2\). According to the homotopy classification of self-maps on \(\mathbb RP^2\), the author analyzes the relation among fixed point classes of different iterations of a given self-map. Since the fundamental group of \(\mathbb RP^2\) is \(\mathbb Z_2\), the number of fixed point classes of each self-map is either \(1\) or \(2\). This makes it possible to handle all possibilities, but there are still many complicated verifications case-by-case. It should be mentioned that the Nielsen numbers of self-maps on \(\mathbb RP^2\) were already treated by \textit{B. Jiang} [in: Jezierski, Jerzy (ed.), Nielsen theory and Reidemeister torsion. Proceedings of the workshop on dynamical zeta functions, Nielsen theory and Reidemeister torsion, Warsaw, Poland, June 24--July 5, 1996. Warszawa: Polish Academy of Sciences, Institute of Mathematics, Banach Cent. Publ. 49, 223--225 (1999; Zbl 0938.55004)].
