The authors construct quantum codes by using principal ideals of group rings. In Section 2, the authors introduce linear codes and quantum error-correcting codes over a finite field with \(q^2\) elements, where \(q\) is a prime power. Using the Euclidean and Hermitian inner product, we can define the Euclidean and Hermitian dual code of a linear code (which is a submodule of \(\mathbb{F}_q^n\)). We know that for each linear code over \(\mathbb{F}_{q^2}\) there exists a \(q\)-ary quantum error-correcting code (QECC, Theorem 2.1.1). In Section 2.2, the authors give the algebraic structure of a group ring over a finite group. In Section 3, the authors introduce code in multivariate polynomial rings with results for the Euclidean and Hermitian dual code (Theorem 3.2.1, Corollary 3.2.3). In Section 4, the authors introduce QECCs from principal ideals of the finite group ring over \(\mathbb{F}_{q^2}\) and they summarize all new found codes in Table 1.
