The authors consider the existence of a positive solution to the sublinear Emden-Fowler equations \[ \Delta u+p(x)|u|^{\alpha}=0 \tag{1} \] and \[ \Delta u+p(x)|u|^{\alpha}=f(x), \tag{2} \] where \(1>\alpha>0\), \(p(x)\), \(f(x)\ge0\). It is proved that the next two inequalities \[ \int_1^{\infty}t(\ln t)^{\alpha}\max_{|x|=t}\{p(x)\}\,dt<\infty,\tag{3} \] \[ \int_m^{\infty}\int_l^{\infty}\max_{|x|=\tau}\{f(x)\}\,d\tau dt<\infty,\ \ m,l\in[1,\infty). \] imply an existence of positive solution to generalized Emden-Fowler equation (2). Emden-Fowler equation (1) has a positive solution provided that inequality (3) is satisfied. An illustrative example of Emden-Fowler equation is given showing that constraint (3) is weaker than the conditions known in the literature.
