Let \(G\) be a finite group with subgroups \(A\) and \(B\) such that \(G = AB\) and such that for every subgroup \(X\) of \(A\) and every subgroup \(Y\) of \(B\) we have \(AY = YA\) and \(BX = XB\). The authors bound the generalized Fitting height of \(G\) and for each prime \(p\) the non-\(p\)-soluble length of \(G\) in terms of the values of these functions for \(A\) and \(B\). The generalized Fitting height of \(G\) is defined exactly as for the Fitting height of \(G\) after replacing all Fitting subgroups by generalized (or extended) Fitting subgroups. The non-\(p\)-soluble length of \(G\) is the least integer \(h\) such that \(G\) has a normal series \( <1> = G_0 \le G_1 \le\ldots\le G_{2h+1} = G\), where the odd numbered factors (starting with \(G_1/G_0\)) are (possibly trivial) \(p\)-soluble groups, while the even numbered factors are non-trivial and direct products of non-abelian simple groups.
