The first Beurling-Malliavin theorem gives assumptions on a majorant \(\omega\) that guarantee the existence of a majorized \(L^2\) function whose Fourier transform has a compact support. The author announces a result where the initial Lipschitz condition for the function \(\log\frac1\omega\) is replaced by assumptions of simultaneously being absolutely continuous and belonging to a variation type class. It is easily seen that the new conditions are more general. The result obtained is shown to be sharp in various senses. An outline of the proof is given, let us wait for the publication of a detailed proof.
