The problem treated in this publication is the construction of a Hodge self-dual field strength in \(d=2+4k\) spacetime dimensions with Minkowski signature. The authors compare two approaches for this problem, deal with the drawbacks of these approaches in terms of auxiliary fields, and finally present in short form their own approach which they call ``clone field mechanism'' and which is explained in more detail in [\textit{S. Bansal} et al., Eur. Phys. J. C 81, Paper No. 257, 12 p. (2021; \url{doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-021-09049-0})]. Being firm with the formalism of outer and inner forms, the work is easy to penetrate and it is clearly shown that the clone field \(R\) the authors introduce in their formalism is gauged away in the end, a benefit that makes the new formalism more appropriate to solve the problem than the other, older formalisms, despite the fact that the calculations necessary for this are more involved. I think that this work is of much benefit for the expert on this field.
