The paper considers meromorphic affine connections on complex manifolds, and more generally meromorphic Cartan geometries. The author finds a local condition on the poles of the affine connection or the Cartan geometry, called \textit{spiral branching}, which ensures that every local Killing field of the affine connection or Cartan geometry extends across the poles to be single valued. The author generalizes some results about holomorphic Cartan geometries to spiral branched meromorphic Cartan geometries. In particular, he proves that any compact complex manifold, with finite fundamental group, whose every meromorphic function is constant, bears no spiral branched affine connection.
