The present research deals with intrinsic Diophantine approximations and self-similar sets. The main attention is given to the metric properties of a family of limsup sets defined using iterated function systems, as well as to apply the main result together with the mass transference principle of Beresnevich and Velani for obtaining results on the Hausdorff measure of some limsup sets. The author states that ``the main result is an analogue of Khintchine's theorem'' for limsup sets that are defined using iterated function systems, it is defined ``a new height function for an element of \(\mathbb Q^d\) contained in a self-similar set in terms of its eventually periodic representations''. Also, a detailed description of the metric properties was obtained for limsup sets defined with respect to the mentioned height function. ``The results of this paper hold in arbitrary dimensions and without any separation conditions on the underlying iterated function system''. The notions of intrinsic Diophantine approximation and extrinsic Diophantine approximation, as well as the main notions of fractal geometry such as a finite set of similarities, an iterated function system, etc., are explained.
