In the paper under review, the authors reprove, by residue calculus, four trigonometric identities from [\textit{K. N. Harshitha} et al., Ramanujan J. 57, 931--948 (2022; Zbl 1483.11168)]. In order to prove two conjectures stated in the above paper, they show that for \(a,b,c>0\), \[ \sum_{j=0}^{2k-1}(-1)^j\sin^2\left(\dfrac{(2j+1)\pi a}{bk+c}\right)= -\dfrac{\sin^2\left(\dfrac{4\pi ak}{bk+c}\right)}{2\cos\left(\dfrac{2\pi a}{bk+c}\right)}. \] The authors also reprove seven elementary trigonometric sums arising from Ramanujan's modular equations in [\textit{G. Vinay} et al., Palest. J. Math. 11, No. 1, 130--134 (2022; Zbl 1490.11052)].
