The first negative Fourier coefficient of an Eisenstein series newform (Q6122735)

Fourier coefficients of modular forms carry a lot of arithmetic information and it is clear that Eisenstein series are important examples for modular forms. Signs of modular forms, in particular Eisenstein series newform receive a lot of attention recently. \textit{B. Linowitz} and \textit{L. Thompson} [Ramanujan J. 37, No. 2, 223--241 (2015; Zbl 1380.11038)] provided a conjecture related with the first negative Fourier coefficient of an Eisenstein series newform. In the paper under review, the author improves and proves that conjecture with analytic number theory methods as well as large sieve method.
