The authors propose an oscillation-free spectral volume method for the systems of hyperbolic conservation laws. To avoid the oscillations near discontinuities, a damping term is introduced to the standard spectral volume method. The stability of the proposed OFSV scheme is shown along with and optimal convergence rate. Some superconvergence properties in the case of linear scalar equations are also proved. Some numerical tests are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and robustness of the stated scheme.
