The author gives a short result on iterated maps of the unit sphere. Let us denote by \({\mathcal{C}}(S^{m})\) the set of continuous maps from the unit sphere \(S^{m}\) in the Euclidean space \(\mathbb{R}^{m+1}\) into itself endowed with the supremum norm. Further, denote the set of iterated maps by \({\mathcal{W}}(S^{m}) := \bigcup_{n=2}^{\infty} {\mathcal{W}}(n; S^{m})\) in \({\mathcal{C}}(S^{m})\), where \({\mathcal{W}}(n; S^{m}) := \{f^{n} : f \in {\mathcal{C}}(S^{m})\}\) for all \(n \geq 2\). The author proves that \({\mathcal{W}}(S^{m})\) is not dense in \({\mathcal{C}}(S^{m})\) for all \(m \geq 1\). In particular, it is shown that the periodic points of the iteration operator of order \(n\) are not dense in \({\mathcal{C}}(S^{m})\) for all \(n \geq 2\), thus providing an alternative proof of the result that these operators are not Devaney chaotic on \({\mathcal{C}}(S^{m})\), i.e., the periodic points of \(J_{n}\) are not dense in \({\mathcal{C}}(S^{m})\). At the end of the paper, the author mentions the following open problem: is \({\mathcal{W}}(S^{m})\) nowhere dense in \({\mathcal{C}}(S^{m})\) for \(m \geq 1\)?
